  • Booking

    • How do I book a VR Experience in Haarlem?

      Booking is easy via the Book button on our website. Choose your activity, select 60, 90 or 120 minutes, enter the number of players and pick a time slot. You’ll immediately see available times and receive a confirmation by email.

    • Which time slots are available and what time do you recommend?

      You can book daily within our opening hours. Available time slots are shown live in the booking system. Weekdays are usually quieter, ideal for smaller groups. Weekends and holidays are busier - book in advance. For groups or those wanting to try multiple games, we recommend 90 or 120 minutes.

    • How much does a booking cost and what is included?

      The price depends on duration (60/90/120 min) and timing (weekday/weekend). Included: short briefing, guidance from a host, use of VR headsets & controllers, hygiene covers, and the option to switch between multiple games. Not included (optional): food & drinks, private session, or some premium and escape titles with a small surcharge.

    • Can we come with more than 11 people?

      We have 11 play areas, so 11 people can play at the same time. If you come with more than 11, we rotate in rounds; the host manages teams and quick switches. Advice: 9–12 players → 90–120 min; 13+ → 120 min or two slots. Not every title supports 11 players; the host selects suitable games. For VR Racing: max 4 at once.

    • Can I change or cancel my booking?

      You can cancel or modify your booking via the website or by contacting us. Please note that cancellation fees may apply depending on how far in advance you cancel or change. You can also add cancellation insurance directly when booking.

    • How far in advance should I book to be sure of a spot?

      For small groups, a few days in advance is usually enough. For weekends, holidays or packages (such as kids parties or company outings), we recommend booking at least one week in advance.

    • Can I reserve by phone or email at VRcafe Haarlem?

      Yes, you can. Online booking is the fastest, but for questions or group reservations you can always call or email us. We’re happy to help with advice on times and activities.

    • Can I use a gift card or voucher when booking?

      Yes. Enter your gift card or voucher code during booking; the amount will be automatically deducted. Gift cards are also available via our website.

    • What happens after my booking at VRcafe Haarlem?

      After confirmation, you’ll receive an email with date, time, duration and number of players. On the day itself, just arrive on time - we’ll take care of the rest.

    • How and when do I pay for my booking at VRcafe Haarlem?

      You can pay online directly when booking via iDEAL, credit card or gift card. For group bookings or companies, payment on location or by invoice is also possible. Payment confirms your reservation so your time slot is secured.

    • Is there food and drinks during the VR activity?

      Yes, it’s possible to get food and drinks during the VR experience. There is a small snack bar with a selection of snacks and drinks.

    • What do I need to bring?

      You don’t need to bring anything. We provide all necessary equipment, such as VR headsets and computers.

    • Do you have arcades?

      Yes, besides VR we also have arcades so there's always an attraction to enjoy. We have two large arcade machines and one small one, plus an air hockey table. There's something for everyone, so between VR sessions or whenever you want to relax, you can make the most of these extra attractions.

    • Is there guidance available?

      Yes, there is always guidance available to ensure everything runs smoothly and to answer any questions.

    • Can I take photos or videos while playing?

      Yes, it’s possible to take photos during the VR experience.

    • Is there a dress code?

      There is no specific dress code, but we recommend wearing comfortable clothing so you can move freely during the VR experience.

    • Is there parking nearby?

      Right next to us is Interparking Station. Book your spot in advance via Interparking and use code VRCAFE15 for 15% discount. Garage entrance: bus side of the station. Alternative: Jansweg parking lot, about a 5-minute walk. By public transport, exit at Haarlem station; bus and train are right outside. Bikes can be parked at the station.

    • Are there toilets available?

      Yes, there are toilets available. In total, there are 2 toilets for guests.

    • Can I wear my glasses while playing?

      Yes, you can wear your glasses while playing. The VR headsets are designed to comfortably fit over most glasses.

    • Is it accessible for wheelchairs?

      Yes, the location is wheelchair accessible. Most VR experiences can be played seated, allowing full participation.

    • Do you get motion sickness from VR?

      Most people don’t. We use modern VR headsets with high image quality and smooth tracking. A small group may experience slight dizziness, especially in fast-paced games. You can always take a break or switch to calmer games - our hosts will help you.

  • Visiting

    • Do I need to arrive earlier?

      You are allowed to arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled time, but it is not required.

    • Can I visit without a reservation?

      You are always welcome, even without a reservation! So if you're nearby, feel free to drop by.

    • Door closed, no appointment, what now?

      Standing in front of a closed door? Don’t worry! On quiet days without bookings, we may temporarily leave the VRcafe. However, you can always call us at +31 (0) 23 234 0606 so we can find a solution together.

    • Where exactly can I find the VRcafe?

      The VRcafe is located at Stationsplein 68 in Haarlem, directly opposite the station. Bus and train stop right outside. By car, you can park at Interparking Station Garage next to us (use code VRCAFE15 for 15% discount).

    • Can I have a drink or food if I just walk in?

      Yes! You can also come by for a drink, snack, or just to see what VR is like. We have a cozy bar with soft drinks, coffee, beer, and small bites.

    • Can I look around before deciding to play?

      Of course. Feel free to walk in, ask questions, or watch others play. Our hosts are happy to explain everything.

    • Is there usually space if I come spontaneously?

      Usually yes on weekdays. Weekends and holidays are busier, so we recommend booking in advance.

    • What if I am late for my reservation?

      Let us know as soon as you notice you're running late. If possible, we will adjust your session. Otherwise, playtime may be slightly shorter.

    • Can I store my belongings somewhere while playing?

      Yes. We have a safe place for jackets, bags, and belongings while you play.

    • Can spectators watch?

      Absolutely! Spectators can watch on big screens and even take photos.

    • What is a VR Experience?

      A VR experience is a free-play VR session where you can enjoy multiple games within your booked time slot. Our host helps you choose and quickly switch between games.

    • What games are available?

      On our website you can find a page with all our games, including categories. Curious about everything available? Click here to explore them.

    • How many people can play at the same time?

      You can play with up to 11 people at the same time (we have 11 play areas). Coming with a larger group? We rotate players so everyone gets a turn. (For VR Racing: max 4 at once.)

    • How long does it last and how much actual playtime do we get?

      You choose your time slot when booking (e.g. 60 or 90 minutes). Within that time, it’s all yours: after a short briefing (±5 minutes), you play for the rest of the session. Switching between games usually takes 1–2 minutes. Want more time? If availability allows, you can extend your session on-site.

    • Can we play together and switch games during the session?

      Playing together: In many games this is possible (co-op or versus). We set you up in the same game; note that not every title supports 11 players.

      Switching: Yes, within your time slot. The host handles this for you; switching usually takes about 1–2 minutes. Story/escape experiences are not switched halfway. Tip: choose 2–3 favorites in advance to make switching faster.

    • Can I give a VR Experience as a gift?

      Yes, you can book a VR experience as a gift. You can purchase a gift card or directly book for the person you want to surprise.

    • How does the VR Experience work when we start playing?

      Upon arrival, you’ll receive a short introduction and the host will help you choose your first game. After that, you can play freely within your booked time and switch games during the session. The host manages the flow so everyone gets plenty of playtime.

    • What kind of games are included in the VR Experience?

      The VR Experience includes a mix of action, adventure, puzzle and party games. Think of archery, rhythm games, zombies, sports, or fun co-op experiences. There’s plenty of variety for both beginners and experienced players.

    • Is the VR Experience suitable for mixed groups (friends, family, colleagues)?

      Yes, that’s exactly what it’s designed for. Everyone can choose games based on their own level and preferences - active or more relaxed. Our hosts ensure a good balance so everyone stays engaged.

    • What if I don’t know which games to choose?

      No problem. The host will guide you during the session and help you choose suitable games. Based on your preferences - competition, cooperation, humor or adventure - the host creates a fun game flow for you.

      Our VR Escape Rooms can be played with groups of up to 6 people. Are you with 7 or 8? Then you will be split into two groups, which also adds a fun competitive element!

    • Can you play together?

      Yes, in VR Escape Rooms you work together to solve puzzles and complete the experience.

    • How long does a VR Escape Room session last?

      A VR Escape Room session lasts about one hour, but it can be shorter or longer depending on how well the players perform.

    • How much does a VR Escape Room cost?

      The price depends on the duration of the session. On regular days you pay €37.50 for 60 minutes, €52.50 for 90 minutes and €65 for 120 minutes. During discount days you benefit from lower rates.

    • What is VR Racing?

      VR Racing at VRcafe is the ultimate racing experience where you get the chance to step into the shoes of your favorite driver, whether that’s Max Verstappen or someone else.

    • Are there age restrictions?

      For VR Racing we recommend an age of 10 years. This is because the pedals are often too far away for children under 10. Additionally, VR Racing is often described as intense, which is why we do not recommend it for young children. If parents indicate that it is possible, children from 7 years old are also allowed to participate.

    • Can you race against others?

      You can play both solo and in multiplayer against each other. All VR headsets are connected to a screen so friends and family can watch who crosses the finish line first!

    • Can I gift VR Racing?

      Yes, it is possible to book VR Racing as a gift for someone else. You can purchase a gift card or directly make a booking for the person you want to give it to.

    • Can I get motion sickness from VR racing?

      Yes, it is possible to get motion sickness during VR racing, but this does not happen very often. Some players experience slight dizziness or nausea, especially at the beginning.       There are different car classes available, from fast formula cars to GT cars. The circuits range from short technical tracks to challenging GP circuits. This way, there is always a combination that suits your driving style.

      You sit in a real racing seat with a steering wheel, pedals and force feedback. The VR headset fully immerses you in the cockpit, making it feel like you are really racing. Every corner and vibration feels as if you are actually on the asphalt.

      VR Art is a unique experience where you can create and explore art in a virtual environment. You can paint, draw and create using VR technology, bringing your artworks to life in ways that were previously impossible.

    • How long does a VR Art session last?

      Time always flies in virtual reality. That’s why most of our sessions start from 60 minutes. However, we often find that 60 minutes can feel a bit short for many people. 90 minutes is usually more ideal. Especially children can stay engaged for a long time while playing in VR. For kids and birthday parties, we therefore recommend at least 90 minutes, but 120 minutes is also a great option. The choice is usually based more on budget than time.

    • Can I create art in VR?

      Yes, you can definitely create art in VR. With creative apps like Tilt Brush VR you can paint in a three-dimensional space, while Kingspray Graffiti allows you to design realistic graffiti. This lets you experience art in a completely new and interactive way.

    • Do I need experience to create VR Art?

      No, you don’t need any prior experience. The tools are intuitive and user-friendly, allowing both beginners and experienced artists to start creating immediately in a virtual environment.

    • Can I give VR Art as a gift?

      Yes, it is possible to book VR Art as a gift for someone else. You can purchase a gift card or directly make a booking for the person you want to surprise.

    • Which programs or tools are used during VR Art?

      We use creative VR programs such as Tilt Brush VR and Kingspray Graffiti. These allow you to freely draw, paint or create graffiti in a three-dimensional space. Our hosts will briefly explain how the tools work so you can get started quickly.

    • Can I save or share my artwork after the session?

      Yes, we can take a screenshot or short video of your artwork so you can keep or share it. Just let the host know at the end of your session.

    • Can you do VR Art together with others?

      Yes, absolutely. You can draw simultaneously on different play areas or take turns working on the same artwork. Many groups choose to create a shared theme or view each other's work on the big screen.

    • Is VR Art suitable for children or schools?

      Yes, VR Art is popular among children and schools because it combines creativity with technology. It is suitable from around 7 years old and can be adjusted to the age and level of participants.

    • What kind of art can I create in VR Art?

      Anything your imagination allows: 3D paintings, graffiti, light sculptures or abstract forms. Because you work in a virtual space, you can literally walk around your artwork and build in layers - something that isn’t possible in the real world.

  • VR Paintball

    • What is Paintball?

      VR Paintball is a virtual version of paintball where you use a VR headset and controllers to compete in a digital arena against other players. It has the same tactical gameplay as paintball, and the maps are even based on official tournament paintball arenas

    • How many people can play Paintball?

      In VR Paintball you usually play in teams of 2 to 4 players per team (for example 4 vs 4). You can also play against bots so you can all stay together.

    • What age is Paintball suitable for?

      VR Paintball is usually suitable from around 12 years old.

    • How does Paintball differ from other shooting games?

      The main difference is that everything takes place in VR: you wear a headset and see a digital arena. This allows for special environments, effects, and respawn mechanics that do not exist in physical paintball.

    • How does Paintball work when we start playing?

      First you receive a short explanation from the host about the controls and safety rules, then you put on the headset and can start playing right away. The rounds are short so you can use the first round to get familiar with the controls.

    • What happens when I get hit during Paintball?

      When you are hit virtually, you are out for that round. You can watch the rest of your team and quickly join again in the next round. There is no pain and no mess with paint.

    • Is Paintball safe and do you have enough space to move?

      Yes, VR Paintball is safe if instructions are followed. The physical play area is spacious and many headsets have boundary warnings (guardian). A host supervises to prevent players from colliding with each other or objects.

    • How long does a Paintball match last?

      A match in VR usually lasts about 5 minutes per round. Within a booked session, you can play multiple rounds quickly with short breaks in between.

    • Can we switch teams or try tactics?

      Yes, switching teams and trying different tactics is often possible - the host can rearrange teams and activate different game modes for variety.

    • Is Paintball fun for beginners or non-gamers?

      We can come to almost any location in the Netherlands. This is coordinated in advance based on distance and planning.

      Yes, absolutely. We adapt games and guidance to your goal, whether it’s teambuilding, competition, or relaxation.

    • What if we are not sure how many participants will attend?

      No problem. Provide an estimate and confirm the final number a few days in advance. We stay flexible.

    • What equipment do you bring?

      We bring everything: VR headsets, controllers, screens, cables, and safety equipment. You only need to provide space and power.

    • How much space and power is required?

      Each VR set requires about 1.5×1.5 meters and one power outlet (220V). Internet is helpful but not always required.

    • How long does setup and breakdown take?

      Usually between 30–60 minutes depending on the setup size. Our hosts handle everything.

    • Is VR safe on location?

      Yes. Everything is wireless and supervised by hosts. We ensure safe distances and clear boundaries.

    • What if technical issues occur?

      Our hosts always bring backup equipment and solve issues immediately.

    • Is the equipment cleaned after use?

      Yes, headsets are cleaned after each session and fitted with hygiene covers.

    • Are hosts present during the event?

      Yes, always. Hosts manage setup, guidance, and gameplay support.

    • Can VR be played outdoors?

      Mostly indoors. Outdoor use is only possible in covered areas due to sunlight interference.

    • How many people can play at the same time?

      Up to 8 players at once depending on space. Larger groups rotate in sessions.

    • Do you use sound or music during the VR activity?

      Yes. Headsets have built-in audio. Background music or announcements can be arranged.
